Venue and Mom

A couple weeks ago, I watched my sister become Mrs. Maines. I feel so humbled by God's blessings on our lives. We had an AMAZING time. She was a stunning bride. Stunning doesn't even cover it. My dear friend, Tiffany, came out and did her make up perfectly! I'm locking her down for mine.

When it was all over, we were finally able to shift the focus to our wedding and used the few days we had in California to finalize a few details. Thanks to our dear friend, Jami Willis, we found the most beautiful spot in the universe to get married. We have looked and looked and found places that were pretty, but Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado, CA just felt right. Jason said it was exactly the place he had pictured when he imagined me walking down the aisle. I said "I have to have it' and Jami worked her magic. By the Grace of God and the generosity of our parents we were able to lock down our January 9, 2011 date at the Venue of our dreams!!!

this is my face when I saw it for the first time

My mom and step dad worked for days over the endless contracts and negotiations and finally sent out the paperwork this morning!
Good morning,

"You are getting married at Rancho Las Lomas!! All contracts and payments were finalized this morning. Please do not hesitate to contact our office with any questions or concerns during your planning process. I am so happy that everything worked out for you.

Warmly,

We are humbled by the generosity of my mom and step dad and dad and elsa who are coming together to make this day possible. While I am grateful to all my parents, I have been thinking of my mother recently. She has occupied most of my thoughts as I sift through the overwhelming feeling of gratitude that exists in my heart. I think of the three jobs she worked while raising 4 children. I think of the choir tours, and school plays, and detention slips. I think about crying in her arms over past heartaches and bad decisions. I think about screaming match arguments where she is usually right.  My mother is my heart. She is every good part of me and some of the bad, she is a warrior. She is the most compassionate, giving, selfless woman I have ever had the privilege of knowing. It is because of  her that I was able to do all the good things I have done. She is the foundation for every great success of my life. I am hers to give away and I will never forget the tremendous selflessness she has shown in the wedding planning process. She is, once again, sacrificing her own time, money and love, to give her children something they want. Thank you isn't enough, but it is all I have today.

Thank you, Mom. I love you. I am so proud you are my mother.

BOOMER!!! DATE!!!

March was a hectic month! Natalie decided to get married in July of 2010!!! Needless to say, a lot of planning has been crammed into a short amount of time. Thankfully, Debi is on top of it. For now. I'm pretty sure she is going to have a nervous breakdown. It is probably what the Mayans were talking about when they saw the end of the world happening in 2012.

I flew back in February for her bachelorette party. We went to the Long Beach Reggae festival after a pre-party at Krystle's place. She has been so incredible with Nat's wedding. We had a BLAST!

Shortly after returning to Oklahoma, I got the amazing news that I got into OU! I couldn't be happier! I have always regretting not finishing school and marrying Jason pretty much requires a fierce loyalty to OU - a loyalty he pretty much set in stone when he dropped to one knee and asked for my hand. Anyway, that development has led us to change our date to somewhere in the first two weeks of January...probably January 7, 8, or 9th. More details to follow!

I have really enjoyed the engagement process. Its been fun going through all the little moments together. (though I think if Jason has to answer another question about linens, he may kill me) It's been pretty much the running joke that we keep changing our date! March seemed doable, but now we are both a little antsy. Still, with two sisters getting married, we have to try and space it out - so January works well cause it gives a bit of time between weddings AND I'll be in winter break for the wedding!

There are quite a few exclamation points in this post! sorry. I'M EXCITED!

Success!

FINALLY!!!! I went back to the first dress. The VERY first dress I tried on, but I needed my Mom to see it before I committed to getting it and when I put the dress on I finally got those tears.

That sealed the deal. I cried. Linsey cried. Debi cried. Shelley smiled. Good enough!

After getting the tears of approval from Mom, I went back to Oklahoma where Jan and Pat went to seal the deal on the dress. Pat generously picked up the tab for my dress, shoes, and veil.  Then it was my turn to cry.

No turning back now!

Marry Us!

We spent quite a bit of time trying to decide who we would ask to officiate our wedding. We both felt strongly that we wanted it to be a friend. When we started talking about Josh Day, we realized he was the perfect person to ask. He is someone we both love and respect and we were thrilled that he said yes! We are also thrilled that JDay is going to be an official minister. We are considering letting him ad lib his way through the ceremony...should be interesting.

and then there were three..

Just after Jason and I announced our engagement, Natalie and Krystle announced theirs! It's going to be a crazy year. I would like to apologize in advance to my mother.
So far, our dates are looking like either March/2011 or January depending on my school situation! - Natalie is getting married in July/2011 and Krystle in May/2011.
