Shower me with your love

I can’t believe how quickly time is flying by. A couple of weekends ago, Jason and I flew back to California to finalize some details for the big day. We flew in on Thursday and ran around Laguna Beach looking for a hotel room for the wedding night, then Friday came and we did our tasting, final details with Emily,

rehearsal dinner location selection, cake tasting number #1, hair trial run, dinner with James…

and somewhere in there we got our marriage license :)

Yes. I got a little teary eyed. This is not an uncommon phenomenon as of late. I’m crying a lot these days.

Saturday morning was cake tasting #2 and we finally got the cake we wanted.

Then my bridal shower! To say that I was overwhelmed with the amount of time and energy that went into this PERFECT day is an understatement. Lindsey picked out the most beautiful invitations. It was a mad hatter themed tea party (see best hat award winner and bridesman, Kenny K below)

(with some home made Sangria my mom snuck in!) My sisters were amazing and Debi was very provocative in her hat...She had these adorable cakes made!

The only downfall was not having the time to really hang with each and every person that was there. I am so blessed! Linsey and James are the MOH team of the century and I don’t know what I would do without them. Thank you Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Speaking of thanks, Brooke Watson, who is a very busy girl, took some time out of her busy schedule to take some engagement photos of us. They are just fantastic. We are so lucky to have her :)

Invitations are sent and we are waiting for replies (and return to senders as I'm certain some were addressed incorrectly)! Can't wait. I better go before I start crying again. too late.

Say yes to the dress...and tux

Its hard to believe this wedding is less than 4 months away. The details begin to fall into place and I get more and more excited about our big day. We were worried that nobody would want to make the trip to California, but are surprised to find many of our closet friends willing to make the trip! This is equal parts moving and exciting! We fly out November 11 for a busy weekend of food tasting, cake tasting, hotel booking and my wedding shower. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am for that weekend. I think I'll feel a bit more at ease with all the planning once those details are solidified. We will be choosing our invitations in the next few weeks, so look for those in the mail.

Jason and I spent some time at David's Bridal and various tuxedo shops trying to put together wedding wear that wouldn't make our wedding party miserable. We chose grey suits and ice blue dresses to match our colors. Hope you like them! If you don't, just smile, nod and tell us how brilliant our choices are.

Register Me

You know what's fun...

He already has one of these.

It was quite a challenge convincing Jason that we couldn't register at Best Buy. We had way too much fun taking that little gun all over the place. I kind of want one just to keep in my purse.

Happiness...I am glad.

Wedding Countdown Ticker

Jason and I have been engaged for nearly a year and a half and somehow, we saved every detail for the very last second. The last few months have not been without their share of long nights going through the classic stresses of wedding planning. I am happy to report that with the Grace of God, the help of my family and friends, and the overwhelming support of my undoubtedly annoyed fiance, we have started to see the pieces fall into place.

We have narrowed down our hotels (see website for more information) and sent out a Save the Date, you know, just in case you all haven't figured out the date from my endless blogs, updates and facebook posts.  Jan and David generously bought our plane tickets home and helped us with our photographer.

Andrew Morgan, a dear friend of ours, will be shooting our wedding along with Jessica Schilling. We are so blessed to have such brilliant photographers! Click the link to see more of their work!

We decided on Tahiti for our honeymoon! Our initial impulse was to go to Ireland, but after accepting the fact that Ireland in January would be  a bit of a nightmare, we decided on somewhere warm.

We just booked a flight back to California for November 11-14 to do a tasting, check our hotels and rehearsal dinner locations out, and to go to my wedding shower!

It seems like when something gets crossed off the list, a new item I hadn't thought of, pops up.  That's wedding planning, I guess! I'm so lucky to have such a supportive and encouraging partner to talk me off the ledge! That's all for now! I'll keep you posted as things develop!

my awesome bridesmaids!

While we were in California, I was able to rally my girls to come out and try on bridesmaid dresses. Not the most successful trip, but I was very excited they came all the way down to the OC to eat steak and try on dresses.

Lins and Alea

Not for nothing, all my maids have really shown up for me! I can't tell you how lucky I feel. My sisters are totally on top of it, Luch is actually entering my addresses into a database for me,

Linsey is juggling a new job and planning a bachelorette party, James is constantly there whenever I need him for anything, and kenny is still sending me really funny text messages that remind me  how much fun I'm going to have with all these peeps by my side. I am so grateful!!!!

Venue and Mom

A couple weeks ago, I watched my sister become Mrs. Maines. I feel so humbled by God's blessings on our lives. We had an AMAZING time. She was a stunning bride. Stunning doesn't even cover it. My dear friend, Tiffany, came out and did her make up perfectly! I'm locking her down for mine.

When it was all over, we were finally able to shift the focus to our wedding and used the few days we had in California to finalize a few details. Thanks to our dear friend, Jami Willis, we found the most beautiful spot in the universe to get married. We have looked and looked and found places that were pretty, but Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado, CA just felt right. Jason said it was exactly the place he had pictured when he imagined me walking down the aisle. I said "I have to have it' and Jami worked her magic. By the Grace of God and the generosity of our parents we were able to lock down our January 9, 2011 date at the Venue of our dreams!!!

this is my face when I saw it for the first time

My mom and step dad worked for days over the endless contracts and negotiations and finally sent out the paperwork this morning!
Good morning,

"You are getting married at Rancho Las Lomas!! All contracts and payments were finalized this morning. Please do not hesitate to contact our office with any questions or concerns during your planning process. I am so happy that everything worked out for you.

Warmly,

We are humbled by the generosity of my mom and step dad and dad and elsa who are coming together to make this day possible. While I am grateful to all my parents, I have been thinking of my mother recently. She has occupied most of my thoughts as I sift through the overwhelming feeling of gratitude that exists in my heart. I think of the three jobs she worked while raising 4 children. I think of the choir tours, and school plays, and detention slips. I think about crying in her arms over past heartaches and bad decisions. I think about screaming match arguments where she is usually right.  My mother is my heart. She is every good part of me and some of the bad, she is a warrior. She is the most compassionate, giving, selfless woman I have ever had the privilege of knowing. It is because of  her that I was able to do all the good things I have done. She is the foundation for every great success of my life. I am hers to give away and I will never forget the tremendous selflessness she has shown in the wedding planning process. She is, once again, sacrificing her own time, money and love, to give her children something they want. Thank you isn't enough, but it is all I have today.

Thank you, Mom. I love you. I am so proud you are my mother.
